With this project, I aimed to recreate the aesthetic and feel of 2024’s Balatro and design new UI elements using said aesthetic—all this was to recreate the 2008 EA version of Monopoly.

These are uninterrupted, clear videos going through menu navigation and a few more comments.

The menus of Balatro are snappy, and small animations are present throughout to give its simple art style weight and impact. I wanted to experiment, so I had them come in from different directions. This experimental mentality was crucial to bring my headspace to a place where I could create original assets that fit in.

All the scripting to make things function was initialized from class lectures. I then took what I learned and expanded it with research and my logic. Since I was still learning, my scripts became long and unwieldy. For my subsequent project, Auragami, I further refined my coding process.
